Read about our current projects in Somerton here.
We renamed the Job Clubs that NetBuddies operated in Langport and Somerton to more closely reflect the clients using them and the needs we see in the local communities. We hope, in the not too distant future, to be able to roll this model out across other parts of rural Somerset.
'Opportunities' indicates that this is the choice we are providing. There are opportunities to learn, acquire new skills or brush up on old ones. Access to the internet opens up a wealth of choices, and with helpers on hand to guide reluctant late starters or those who missed out on IT in earlier life, we hope to open up new and more optimistic life choices for job seekers, anyone on benefits or family carers. Doing this in a social environment, which is friendly and open, will, we hope help us grow. We are greatly encouraged by the support and assistance from the local community.
We were also involved in bringing Men's Sheds to the Somerset Levels and Moors, and have also worked closely with groups in Yeovil, Street and Burnham on Sea to help them open Sheds in their communities.
